Smoother Skin with Neuromodulators
in Los Angeles, California
Expression Refined. Muscles Calmed. Confidence Preserved.
At Renova Med Spa, we use neurotoxins not to freeze the face, but to refine it. The goal is never to erase movement. It is to restore balance, soften overactivity, and create harmony in the way the face rests and responds.
This is not just cosmetic artistry. It is applied anatomy. Every expression begins with a muscle signal. Every wrinkle forms over time through movement. When placed with anatomical fluency, neurotoxins gently and precisely interrupt that process.
At Renova, we approach neuromodulators as more than wrinkle treatments. We treat them as tools to preserve expression while preventing premature aging.
What Neurotoxins Actually Do
Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau are all purified forms of botulinum toxin type A. When injected in small, controlled amounts, they temporarily relax specific facial muscles. This minimizes the repetitive muscle movements that lead to the development of dynamic wrinkles, frequently observed on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the eyebrows.
Contrary to popular belief, neurotoxins do not fill lines. They do not stretch the skin. What they do is prevent the muscle from creating the crease in the first place. Over time, this gives the skin an opportunity to smooth out and remain at rest.
The key is precision. Too little, and the movement continues. Too much, and the expression becomes stiff.
That is why we take time to study your facial pattern, muscle strength, and the natural asymmetries that make your expression unique.
The Renova Approach to Facial Motion
No two faces move the same way. Some patients have heavy brow activity and need muscle relaxation in specific areas only. Others may be overcorrected if too much product is used.
A thoughtful injection plan considers the following:
- Depth and strength of the target muscle
- The opposing muscles that affect balance
- Your unique habits of smiling, frowning, and lifting the brow
- How movement changes with age and skin laxity
- Whether the goal is prevention, correction, or softening
Facial motion is dynamic. Our work respects that. We believe in softening, not freezing. We work to preserve natural communication while minimizing the unconscious habits that lead to early aging.
What Neurotoxins Can and Cannot Treat
Neurotoxins are highly effective when used in the correct context. They effectively address dynamic wrinkles, which are formed by repetitive muscle movements. However, they are not a universal remedy for all skin issues.
Best treated with neurotoxins:
Beyond these primary applications, neuromodulators offer a range of specialized treatments to address various aesthetic concerns:
Frown lines between the eyebrows (Glabellar lines)
These vertical lines, often referred to as "11s," are caused by repeated contractions of the corrugator and procerus muscles when frowning or concentrating. Neuromodulators relax these muscles, smoothing the appearance of these lines and creating a more relaxed and approachable expression.
Horizontal forehead lines
These lines span across the forehead and are formed by the repetitive raising of the eyebrows, engaging the frontalis muscle. Treatment relaxes this muscle, reducing the prominence of these lines and creating a smoother forehead.
Crow’s feet around the eyes (Lateral canthal lines)
These fine lines radiate from the outer corners of the eyes, becoming more noticeable with smiling or squinting. They are caused by the orbicularis oculi muscle. Targeted injections relax this muscle, softening the lines and rejuvenating the eye area.
Bunny lines on the sides of the nose
These crinkly lines appear on the bridge and sides of the nose when smiling or scrunching the nose. They are a result of the activity of the nasalis muscle. Small injections can effectively smooth these lines for a more refined appearance.
Lip flip and vertical lip lines (Perioral lines or "Smoker's lines")
A "lip flip" involves precise injections into the orbicularis oris muscle above the upper lip. This subtle technique allows the upper lip to gently roll outward, creating the illusion of fuller lips without adding volume. Additionally, neuromodulators can reduce the appearance of vertical lines around the mouth, often caused by muscle contractions and sun exposure.
Gummy smile correction
For individuals who show an excessive amount of gum tissue when smiling, injections into the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscle can gently relax it, lowering the upper lip and creating a more balanced smile.
Chin dimpling caused by muscle overuse (Mentalis muscle hyperactivity)
The mentalis muscle in the chin can become overactive, leading to a pebbled or dimpled appearance. Relaxing this muscle with neuromodulators smooths the chin area, enhancing facial harmony.
Neck bands and platysma activity
Vertical bands in the neck, known as platysmal bands, become more prominent with age or muscle tension. Injections directly into the platysma muscle can relax these bands, creating a smoother and more youthful-looking neck and jawline. This is often referred to as a "Nefertiti lift."
Jaw slimming or clenching relief through masseter treatment
For individuals with an overly square jawline due to enlarged masseter muscles (often from teeth grinding or clenching), injections into these muscles can lead to muscle atrophy and a more refined, slimmer jawline. This treatment also provides significant relief from jaw pain and headaches associated with bruxism.
Downturned corners of the mouth (DAO treatment)
The depressor anguli oris (DAO) muscle pulls the corners of the mouth downward, contributing to a sad or downturned expression. Relaxing this muscle can elevate the corners of the mouth, creating a more positive and approachable appearance.
Neurotoxins: A Breakdown of Options
There are many advanced and reliable neurotoxins available today. Each has unique characteristics. We will help you decide which is most appropriate based on your goals, anatomy, and previous experience.
Botox Cosmetic
The most widely recognized name in neuromodulators. Offers consistent results with an onset of three to five days and peak results in ten to fourteen days. Known for its firm hold and long track record of safety.
Ideal for patients who prefer gradual onset and familiar results.
Dysport
Molecularly smaller than Botox, Dysport tends to spread slightly more, making it effective for larger surface areas such as the forehead. It often has a quicker onset, with results noticeable within two to three days.
Ideal for patients seeking a softer feel or quicker response.
Jeuveau
The newest FDA-approved neurotoxin in our portfolio. Sometimes called “Newtox,” it offers a refined formulation that performs similarly to Botox, but is often preferred for its affordability and smooth effect in certain areas.
Ideal for younger patients starting preventative care or for those new to neuromodulators.

Facial Mapping and Injection Planning
Every patient receives a personalized facial assessment before treatment. We examine not only where the lines form, but how your muscles interact. Some muscles pull, others lift, and others stabilize. True success with neurotoxins depends on knowing how they work together.
At Renova, this planning is not rushed. It is the core of what we do. We may use fewer units in precise areas, or divide units more strategically across multiple muscles to maintain balance. This is the difference between looking relaxed and looking altered. Our goal is always the former.
Safety and Clinical Oversight
All neuromodulator injections at Renova are performed by medical professionals. Each product is sourced directly from the manufacturer, stored in clinical conditions, and reconstituted according to FDA guidelines.
We use sterile technique, fine gauge needles, and real-time facial assessment throughout the procedure. Because safety is not optional. It is our standard. We also educate our patients on what to expect in the hours and days following treatment. While complications are rare, we are always available for follow-up care and minor refinements if needed.
Real Results from Renova
At Renova, we believe in what we do. Our own team gets these treatments. Below are real before and after photos from a Dysport treatment, showing the natural results we create every day.

Note: The slight difference in eyelid position was there before treatment and didn’t change after. This shows that Dysport only affects the areas we treat.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do results last?
Most neurotoxin treatments last three to four months. Longevity depends on your metabolism, activity level, and treatment area.
Will I look frozen?
Not at Renova. We aim to soften, not paralyze the face. You will still be able to express emotion naturally.
Does it hurt?
The procedure involves a series of quick injections with a very fine needle. Most patients report only mild discomfort. Numbing cream is available on request but rarely needed.
When will I see results?
Dysport may show results within two to three days. Botox and Jeuveau usually take five to seven days to begin working, with full results visible at two weeks.
Can I combine neurotoxins with fillers or laser?
Yes. Many of our patients receive combination treatments to address structure, skin quality, and motion all at once. We will design a coordinated plan based on your needs. Not all treatments can be combined in one visit.
Is there downtime?
There is no true downtime. Some patients experience mild swelling or redness that fades within an hour. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity for twenty-four hours.
What can I do to make Botox last longer?
Staying hydrated, minimizing sun exposure, avoiding smoking, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help extend Botox longevity. IV hydration and anti-inflammatory wellness support may also help maintain smoother, longer-lasting effects.
